Theory Test
You will be asked to answer 50 multiple choice questions. To pass you must answer 43 questions correctly followed by a test of your hazard perception skills. You will need to pass both parts of the theory test at the same time to obtain your theory test pass certificate. Once you have passed you can then apply to take your practical Driving Test. The theory test currently costs £31 & the local test centre is in chatham. If you need any help with the theory test, don't worry, just ask your Driving Instructor for advice!
Practical Test
From 4th October 2010 the driving test will include approximately 10 minutes of Independent Driving. This means that you will have to either follow road signs, a series of directions or a combination of both. The examiner will either show you a map of the directions they want you to take or tell you to follow road signs e.g "follow signs to Maidstone town centre". If you do not remember the directions, don't worry, you can ask the examiner to remind you of the directions. Also from 4th October there will be only one reversing maneouvre. The test lasts approximately 40 minutes and the local test centre is in Armstrong Road, Maidstone.
How long will it take to pass my test?
